Maksim Chmerkovskiy, one of the most enduring professional dancers on Dancing With The Stars, began his journey in Season 2 and continued to dazzle audiences until Season 25. Over his impressive 17-season tenure, Chmerkovskiy reached the show’s finale five times, showcasing his remarkable talent and dedication.
With such a successful and memorable history on the show, many fans are eager to know if Chmerkovskiy plans to make a return to the ballroom. Recently, he addressed these speculations, providing insights into his current priorities, including his dance career and family life.
During an honest interview with Access Hollywood, Chmerkovskiy shared his thoughts on his career’s trajectory. Those hoping for his comeback might be disheartened, as he revealed that, at this moment, he has no plans to rejoin Dancing With The Stars.
Maksim Has No Plans To Return To DWTS
In a candid conversation with Access Hollywood, Maksim opened up about where he saw the future of his career. Fans of his might be disappointed to learn that, as of this article’s writing, he isn’t trying to return to Dancing With The Stars.
Maksim explained that, since becoming a father, returning to the competition seemed like too much to juggle:
I think the boat has sailed. I think my comeback is in the distant past. With the kids, it’s so hard. It’s very tough.
Since leaving the dance competition, Maksim has become the father to three sons—Shai Aleksander, Rio John, and Milan.
He also noted that the show had changed quite a bit since he’d left it. In the same conversation with the outlet, he also divulged that the thought of having to be so active on social media as part of the competition made him hesitant:
I just don’t think there would be space for me, especially in the format that it is today. I can’t fathom doing so much social media, and without it, how do you win?
He’s Still In The Reality TV World
This isn’t to say that Maksim is staying out of the spotlight completely. Fans of his will recall that he also appeared in Season 2 of The Traitors, trying his hand at a different kind of TV competition.
While on the show, Maksim was unfortunately singled out fairly early in the game. Though he was designated a faithful, he ended up being one of the first contestants to be banished, and he packed his bags in Episode 3.
Outside of DWTS, however, dancing is also going to remain a central part of his life. “I’m looking forward to so much more dancing out of my body,” he reassured the outlet. “I’m in maintenance every day for the last 25 years. I don’t see where that’s going to go, and I’m looking forward to creative processes,” he added.
Dancing With The Stars also remains in his family. Fans may be aware that his brother, Valentin, is a current pro on the series. Most recently, he was paired with influencer Alix Earle. Maksim also met his wife, Peta Murgatroyd, on the series when they were both working as pros on the cast. Both Valentin and Peta often appear in the dancing-related social media content that Maksim shares with his followers.
