Sunday’s installment of “90 Day Fiancé” delivers an unexpected turn as Debby finds herself swept off her feet by Mido’s unexpected proposal, rather than the breakup she was anticipating.
The episode picks up where the previous one left off, leaving viewers on edge. Last week, Mido stunned everyone by announcing his desire to return to Egypt, leaving Debby heartbroken and in tears on the floor outside a potential venue for their nuptials.
In a twist, it is revealed that Mido’s intentions were quite the opposite. With his visa days numbered—just 25 remaining—he intends to officially ask for Debby’s hand in marriage.
Mido trails Debby out of the wedding chapel as she grapples with her emotions. Overwhelmed, she turns away from him, refusing to acknowledge his calls.
Seizing the moment, Mido retrieves a ring from his bag and goes down on one knee. Despite his gesture, Debby, still overwhelmed, doesn’t turn to face him.
Eventually, he gets up — leaving the ring on the floor — to hug her from behind. Debby is still extremely distraught, telling him, “Do not do this. No.” She continues to sob, until she finally turns around to see Nido back down on one knee with the ring.
He points at her with a smile on his face, telling her, “I got you!”
Debby is completely stunned before she replies, “I’m going to kill you.”
The moment is incredibly dramatic as she collapses on the floor in shock, still loudly crying as they hug.
Mido tells cameras that he’s had the ring for a while and was waiting for a good opportunity to surprise Debby, even though he knows she’s been anxious for his proposal.
Debby loves her new engagement ring, declaring it’s “perfect” as he slips it on her finger.
Mido says in his confessional that although their relationship has had its ups and downs since he moved from Egypt to New Orleans, Louisiana, to be with her — and to pursue his dream of becoming a movie star in America — the two now understand each other more.
“And now I know that she’s a good person and she have a good heart,” he says. “And I think before we meet each other she was missing … we was missing something in our life. And I think now I complete her, and she completes me.”
Later, Debby proudly shows off her ring to the cameras, calling Mido’s proposal “beautiful.”
“Not exactly how I expected it, but nonetheless, it’s beautiful,” she reflects.
