Three women have been charged after allegedly leading cops and a police helicopter on a high-speed Easter car chase.
NSW Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop the car the three women, aged 31, 30 and 22, were allegedly joyriding in when they spotted the vehicle on Eagle Vale Drive in the southwest Sydney suburb of Eagle Vale at about 8:55am on Sunday.
Instead of stopping for police, the car allegedly sped away from officers before the chase was called off due to safety concerns.
PolAir was contacted to minimise the harm that could be done to the public.
The police helicopter tracked the vehicle to Smithfield, about 30 minutes from where they were first spotted, and told officers on the ground where to position road spikes to disable the vehicle.

The three women were arrested at the scene and taken back to Fairfield Police Station where they were all charged with offences.
The 31-year-old P-plate driver was charged with seven offences, including joyriding, not stopping while driving dangerously and driving at speed, not displaying their P-plates, exceeding a speed limit by 45km/h or more and not obeying a police officer.
The two passengers, aged 22 and 30, were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
All three were also charged with not disclosing each other’s identities and refused bail.

The three women are set to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Monday.

NSW Police launched operation Easter 2023 over the long weekend to help curb traffic incidents from Thursday to Monday.
The high-visibility operation has targeted major factors that contributes to fatalities on the road including speeding, mobile phone use and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
‘This Easter, our officers will be out and about doing their best to keep the roads safe so that everyone can arrive to their destinations in time for a wonderful weekend with loved ones,’ Tracy Chapman, Acting Assistant Commissioner, said in a statement.
‘The message is simple; drive to the speed limit, focus on the road – not your phone, and make sure you have a plan B if you are drinking.
‘For the last two years, we’ve seen seven fatalities on the road each Easter long weekend.
‘The goal this year is to reduce that number.’
