Farrah Abraham has reservations about getting closer to her parents, Michael Abraham and Debra Danielsen.

“We don’t really connect with them, and my daughter’s basically blocked them,” Farrah, 34, exclusively shared with Us Weekly while promoting A&E’s Secrets of Celebrity Sex Tapes docuseries. “She doesn’t approve of their behavior. Guys, you can keep doing therapy, but sometimes you’re just throwing money down a drain. Nothing’s really changed there.”

One recent event that upset Farrah was Michael’s decision to participate in the A&E docuseries, which examines the stories behind the biggest celebrity sex tapes. An episode dedicated to Farrah’s experience in adult entertainment airs on Monday, September 22.

“My dad kept randomly messaging me about his hair growth, but never about the show stuff,” Farrah said. “My mom randomly calls my daughter without acknowledging that she should probably ask me if it’s OK.”

When the former Teen Mom star discovered her dad was participating in Secrets of Celebrity Sex Tapes, Farrah said she was totally surprised.

“I think I always had, like, a big rule about people around me in my personal life to please respect me and ask,” Farrah explained. “I’m sorry to say, like, this is why I just don’t need to talk to my family. I am just so about consent. I ask my daughter about things before I ever even comment or I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna go to this show. Is it OK if I mention you?’ because I understand it really drives her crazy if she just doesn’t want to be mentioned.”

Us has reached out to Farrah’s parents for comment.

Fans met Farrah when she appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009. Cameras rolled as she gave birth to her daughter, Sophia, two months after her boyfriend, Derek, died in a car accident.

When participating in the show’s spinoff Teen Mom, Farrah often butt heads with her parents. In a March 2018 episode, however, she officially quit after choosing adult entertainment over the franchise.

As Farrah continues to focus on being the best mom for her daughter, she’s hesitant to make amends with her parents. One big reason, she claims, is that Sophia doesn’t want a relationship with her grandparents.

“My daughter really had a word with me the other night actually. She just said, ‘No matter with this episode coming out, do not go back to talking to them,’” Farrah recalled. “And again, my daughter is just raised with not tolerating toxic stuff on her shoulders, so she just doesn’t believe in it. Don’t go there. Don’t visit the circus.”
