Randy Madden, known for his participation in Season 8 of “American Idol,” has been taken into custody on allegations involving sexual conduct with a minor.
On Monday, the 45-year-old was formally charged with six felony offenses, which include unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation with someone under 18, and penetration with a foreign object.
In addition to these charges, Madden is accused of distributing harmful material, attempting to lure, and discouraging a witness from coming forward, as first reported by TMZ.
According to court documents accessed by the outlet, these charges are linked to at least one incident that reportedly occurred between July and September.
Details regarding the victim’s age have yet to be disclosed.
Madden pleaded not guilty to the charges and was taken into custody with the help of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
He eventually posted $100,000 bond on Tuesday morning, and was released from jail.
Page Six has reached out to both Madden and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, but did not immediately receive a response.
“American Idol” fans may remember Madden from his wild Season 8 audition on the reality singing competition in 2009.
Madden auditioned in Phoenix, where he performed his rendition of “Livin’ On a Prayer” by Bon Jovi in front of judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
However, he was unsuccessful in his attempt to go to Hollywood as all four judges voted “no,” and his journey on the show ended.
That year, Kris Allen went on to win the competition after facing off against Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey.
