Martin Lewis issued an apology on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, today following his appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live. The 51-year-old This Morning star, who often provides ITV viewers with valuable financial advice, appeared on the BBC radio show to explain how people can switch their cash ISA to get a better savings rate.

However, it appears the Money Saving Expert founder couldn’t resist making a few too many puns during his appearance on the programme. After informing listeners, Martin confessed to his 2.7 million X followers that he feared he had gone “full Partridge”.

Alan Partridge is a fictional comedy character portrayed by British actor Steve Coogan. Alan, who is a tactless and inept broadcaster with an inflated ego, is meant to parody various British television personalities.

Following his on-air stint this afternoon, Martin told fans: “For anyone listening to @bbc5live apologies for the puns, they’re almost involuntary! I worried i’m going full partridge.” (sic)

Martin’s followers took to the comments section to join in on the joke, with Graham warning: “Never go full Partridge!” While another follower quipped: “almost”. (sic)

It appears to have been an eventful week for Martin, as yesterday the star admitted he was left feeling “bashful” after meeting his “teenage crush” on the set of This Morning.

The financial expert was delighted to encounter South African actress Glynis Barber, 68, who is known for playing Sgt. Harriet Makepeace in the British police drama Dempsey and Makepeace.

Martin admitted he was big fan of her on the show when he was young, taking to X to share a picture of them both posing in ITV Studios.

He confessed: “Bit of a teenage crush moment for me here. I used to watch Dempsey and Makepeace in the 1980s.

“Loved the programme, loved the action and thought Glynis Barber so beautiful,” he added.

“So I was quite bashful to meet her today at This Morning but not enough not to ask for a photo.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX.
