Jerry O’Connell has nothing but admiration for his wife Rebecca Romijn’s ex, John Stamos.

On Saturday, November 22, O’Connell, 51, took to Instagram, playfully commenting, “First @zohrankmamdani and @realdonaldtrump. Then me and @johnstamos,” alluding to the unexpected meeting between New York City’s mayor-elect and the current U.S. president. He continued with compliments, “Beautiful family and amazing people @johnstamos & @caitlinskybound.”

O’Connell didn’t forget to also wish a happy birthday to @howiemandel.

Both O’Connell and Stamos, 62, were guests at Howie Mandel’s 62nd birthday celebration on Saturday. O’Connell sported a Toronto Blue Jays jersey, while Stamos opted for a stylish look with a burgundy blazer over a black shirt. The duo was joined by Stamos’ wife, Caitlin McHugh, who looked stunning in an olive dress with a belt.

Despite John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn parting ways over a decade ago, their past relationship often surfaces in discussions. Stamos shared with People in 2009, “We were together for 10 years — it was heartbreaking. In my ideal world, I’d still be married and have three kids by now.”

Mandel has since taken credit for the unexpected reunion.

“This is what I do. I bring people together,” he wrote via Instagram comment. “You’re welcome 👏.”

Stamos was famously married to Romijn, 53, from 1998 to 2005, before she moved on with O’Connell.

“As I’m lifting Rebecca up, I’m losing myself,” Stamos wrote in his 2023 memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, recalling their whirlwind marriage. “She makes it clear that I’m the TV guy and she’s the newly minted star. … Somewhere deep inside, I start to believe it.”

Stamos further claimed that he and Romijn experienced “ups and downs” in their marriage as she got increasingly busy with her own career and friends.

“We’re trying new things and growing, but not together,” he wrote, admitting that it felt “harder to make time for each other, slow down, disconnect from the chaos of the world, and make eye contact again.”

Romijn later alleged that she was “blindsided” by Stamos’ book accusations.

“I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually,” she told Entertainment Tonight in January 2024. “I was sort of blindsided by it. But you know, I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that’s all I really want to say about it.”

O’Connell, for his part, similarly claimed that he didn’t get a heads up about what was in the book.

“You know, it’s not really my place to say [anything],” O’Connell told Access Hollywood in October 2023. “I would rather my wife talk about that. … My wife and I are getting along so well today.”

O’Connell and Romijn have been married since 2007, eventually welcoming twins Dolly and Charlie.

“My children are 14 and they see what we see now,” O’Connell previously said on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live in November 2023, when asked about Stamos comparing Romijn to the devil in the book. “There’s no hiding, there’s no restricting them, there’s no more keeping things from them. It’s pretty crazy when, you know, your kids come out for breakfast and they go, ‘Hey, mom, your ex has a book out and called you the devil. What are your thoughts? Why did he call you that?’”

He continued, “That’s where it gets interesting, and it’s interesting. We have no secrets, though.”

Stamos has also moved on, marrying McHugh, 39, in 2018 and welcoming their son, Billy, later that year.
