Teresa Giudice’s husband, Luis Ruelas, has filed for more time to pay off a $1 million loan he took out on March 25, 2024.

After the 50-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member obtained the loan in an effort to pay off the $3.4 million mansion he and Teresa, 52, purchased in Montville, New Jersey, in 2021, and as he and his wife were hit with over $3 million in tax liens, Luis requested not only an extension but also an additional $250,000 from his lender.

According to a report from The U.S. Sun on March 25, a mortgage modification was filed in New Jersey earlier this week.

“The Borrower has requested, and the Lender has agreed to extend the maturity date of the Initial Loan from March 25, 2025 to March 25, 2026,” court papers read. “The Lender is lending to Borrower an additional loan in the principal sum of 250,000 and Borrower has executed and delivered to Lender, a Mortgage Note for the principal sum of $250,5000.”

While Luis was supposed to pay off the $1 million to a Florida lender by March 25, 2025, he now has one more year to do so.

“During the extended term of the Loan, the Borrower shall continue to make payments on the account of interest only as set forth in the Initial Note, on the 1st day of each month until March 25, 2026 on which date the unpaid principal balance, together with accrued interest and all other sums due from the Borrower to the Lender under the Note and Loan Documents shall become immediately due and payable,” the documents continued.

The modification also confirmed that Luis agreed to a $5,000 loan fee.

As RHONJ fans may have seen, Teresa was issued a $303,889.20 tax lien on March 20, and a tax lien was placed against Luis on December 12, 2024, in the amount of $163,523.94. Then, months later, on March 6, another tax lien was filed against Luis for $2,569,842.06, bringing the couple’s total to $3,037,255.20.

Following the reveal of Teresa and Luis’ financial hardships, Bethenny Frankel, 54, spoke out against Teresa, signaling the legal issues and money troubles she experienced during her past marriage to Joe Giudice, 52.

“I cannot believe that Teresa is in another marriage with financial, legal issues,” Bethenny admitted. “I just feel terrible, but, like, fool me once, you’re a fool, fool me twice, I’m a fool.”

“[And] why would you both go on TV? Like, there’s something wrong with someone who goes on TV knowing that there’s something — that you have a dead body in your trunk,” she continued. “It’s almost like it’s being made up. It’s unfathomable. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s too implausible.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is on pause ahead of season 15.
