Megan Thee Stallion has announced she is taking a much-needed “real break” following the end of her relationship with Klay Thompson, which lasted nearly a year.
In a statement provided to Page Six, Megan explained her decision: “I’ve chosen to end my relationship with Klay. For me, trust, fidelity, and respect are essential in any relationship. When those values are compromised, there is no way forward.”
She emphasized the importance of focusing on herself during this time, stating, “I’m taking this opportunity to prioritize my well-being and move forward with peace and clarity.”
The breakup news came on the heels of Megan accusing Klay Thompson of infidelity. She expressed her feelings in a candid social media post on Saturday, writing, “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet.'”
“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet,’” she wrote.
“Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season. Now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’????”
“Bitch I need a REAL break after this one.. bye y’all,” she closed.
The couple appeared to be in good spirits just months ago.
In February, the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker revealed the basketball star spent a pretty penny on lavish gifts — which included a tropical getaway and a $200k Bentley — for her 31st birthday.
In a carousel of photos shared via Instagram, Megan showed a few of their memories from their vacation to the British Virgin Islands.
“Aw man I was not ready for this birthday trip to be over 🥹 A time was definitely had🏝️🍹🥳 THANK YOU BABY⚓️,” she captioned the Instagram post at the time.
The post has since been removed from her Instagram account.
In October, the couple teased that they had taken the next step in their relationship by purchasing a home together.
Megan was first linked to the Dallas Mavericks star in July after eagle-eyed fans noticed she subtly featured Thompson in the background of one of her sexy social media snaps.
Later that month, Megan gushed to Page Six about her “kind” beau as the pair made their red carpet debut at the rapper’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala
“I have never dated somebody so kind,” she told us of her romance.
“This is my first relationship where I’ve ever been with somebody who’s genuinely a nice person, and he makes me genuinely happy. I just never dated somebody like him before and I’m just grateful that he’s here by my side and he feels the same way about me.”
