Renowned model Paulina Porizkova is making waves yet again, championing the cause of body positivity.
On Wednesday, June 10, Porizkova, now 61, took to Instagram to present a powerful visual narrative. She showcased how the same pair of jeans fit her after a 20-pound weight gain over five years. The initial clip featured Porizkova demonstrating the excess space around her waist in the jeans, which she paired with an eye-catching blue bra adorned with pink lace. She then transitioned to a current view, highlighting the changes over time.
“Same pair of jeans, a difference of five years and 20 pounds,” Porizkova narrated over the footage. Recollecting the past, she explained, “In the first photo, I had just finished shooting a reality show in Panama akin to Survivor, involving grueling four-hour physical challenges daily coupled with a meager diet.”
Reflecting on her physique at that time, Porizkova noted, “I was possibly at my thinnest, weighing in at 128 pounds,” a significant detail considering her height of 5’11”. However, she recounted the downside, mentioning that her “hips were so painful” that she resorted to “crawling upstairs and taking painkillers” for relief.
Despite the discomfort, she did acknowledge a positive aspect, stating, “I had pretty good muscle tone, though, from all the exercise.”
In the current photo, Porizkova tried on the same jeans with a black lace balconette bra. She wore the pants unzipped while snapping a mirror selfie. “I am 148 [pounds], I no longer fit into my old jeans and I suspect I never will again.”
She shared that throughout the past week, she’s been sorting through her closet to get rid of “half” the clothes she owns.
Porizkova shared that after her bilateral hip replacement surgery in 2024, her body “changed.”
“My arms and my boobs got fuller, as did my lower belly,” she said while standing in a nude bra and underwear set. “In preparation for my wedding, I’ve been going to the gym four times a week, and I must say I’ve never felt so strong but my weight has stayed the same, and my proportions have stayed the same.”
She concluded her post by saying that “acceptance is not defeat” and that it’s “only the realization that one door is closed and it’s time to open another.”
“Sorting out my clothes for the move, and working on acceptance,” Porizkova captioned the post. “Have to remind myself that ACCEPTANCE IS NOT DEFEAT! Merely a different door.”
