Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Conversation Reassured Daughter Kelly

Kelly Osbourne is continuing to grieve the death of her father, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July 2025 at age 76 after suffering cardiac arrest. Appearing on Paul C. Brunson’s “We Need To Talk” podcast on September 15, Kelly shared the emotional final message Ozzy gave her just days before his death. “He sat me down, and this was about three days before he died,” the former “Fashion Police” co-host recalled. “He said, ‘I need you to know something.’ I said, ‘What?’ He goes, ‘No matter what happens in this life, you can live the rest of your life knowing there was one man on this planet who truly loved you […] And that man is me. […] You are loved.’”

The memory quickly brought Kelly to tears, as she said she worried at the time that her father was saying goodbye. It turned out that he was. Elsewhere in the interview, Kelly Osbourne opened up about how profoundly Ozzy’s death changed her, saying she no longer recognizes the person she was before losing him. “I’ve said many times the girl that I was before my father passed is dead. That girl will never come back,” she admitted. The mother of one described the devastating absence left by the Black Sabbath frontman, calling him “my best friend, my main protector, my biggest cheerleader, my hero, the one who always had my back, and I believe the only person in this world who was ever truly seeing me for who I am and loved me anyway, unconditionally.”

Kelly Osbourne’s conversation with Paul C. Brunson also covered her childhood in the public eye and her complicated relationships with her mother and other relatives. Kelly and Sharon Osbourne are reportedly experiencing a difficult period amid personal disagreements and political differences, but Kelly spoke warmly about her mother during the podcast. “She’s incredible,” she said when Brunson praised Sharon. Still, Kelly acknowledged some family tension surrounding her decision to return to the U.K. and create more distance from her famous relatives. “Me living here now and choosing to separate myself a little and kind of rediscover myself, it’s not like it’s caused a wedge between us,” Kelly explained. “But I would say that the family is a little bit upset that I have decided to go home and figure out me for a while.”

Ultimately, Kelly said she understands her family’s perspective. “I get it, because I don’t want to miss out on anything that my nieces are doing,” the former reality star said. But she stressed that she also has responsibilities as a parent and needs space to focus on her own life. “I’m a mother and I have my own responsibilities and my own life to live and I’m taking this time to be a bit selfish.” Kelly recently ended her relationship with Sid Wilson, her former fiancé and the father of her son. The pair had been together for about four years and welcomed Sidney in 2022 before calling off their engagement in March 2026, less than a year after getting engaged. When Brunson called it her “era of selfishness,” Kelly agreed with one important distinction: “But appropriate selfishness.”
