Paige DeSorbo Opens Up about Past Abusive Relationship When She Was 20, Shares How It Changed Her “Course of Dating” in Her 20s

Paige DeSorbo opened up about a past abusive relationship when she was 19 or 20 and explained how it changed her “course of dating” in her twenties. She also shared that she was “brainwashed.”

Earlier this week, the Summer House star revealed her recent split with a different guy, Craig Conover, who she didn’t start dating until she was 29. She said Craig was the best boyfriend she ever had, and nothing specific triggered the breakup, though it was the right decision for both of them.

“I probably got my most insecure when I was 19 or 20. I dated a really physically and mentally abusive man and it changed my whole course of dating in my twenties,” shared Paige on her Giggly Squad podcast, via @queensofbravo on Instagram. “And so then I looked for chaos, and I looked for pure … adrenaline and emotion, and I was like, this is so fun and this is so crazy.”

“And then I would get out of one bad relationship and get into a slightly better one, but like by standards, very bad,” she continued. “And I just filled this pattern until I was 26 … [I] was dating someone [and I thought,] ‘Okay, this is normal.’ And I was like, ‘No … I can’t do this either.’ And so it’s hard to not look at yourself as a girl and be like, maybe I am the problem.”

But Paige ultimately realized that it “wasn’t my fault,” as she was just “vibing” with certain people who ended up being “f**ked up.”

Addressing her past relationship when she was 19 or 20, Paige said she “never thought” she would be exposed to that abuse, and she was “brainwashed.”

On December 30, Paige first confirmed the more recent breakup with Craig.

“Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” said Paige on Giggly Squad. “And I know I said I would never cry on the internet, but it’s okay if I cry on the pod. I feel like that’s okay. Obviously, it’s weird. It’s very weird. I wasn’t expecting this.”

“I started dating Craig and I was 29, and I’m 32 now. In your 30s for women, I feel like are very transformative and you change a lot and you grow a lot,” she went on. “I have so much love and respect for Craig. I think he is one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life. I will remain the biggest fan for him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best, because he is the best. But, with that said, I think it is the right decision for both of us.”
