Devotees of acclaimed crime novelist Harlan Coben won’t want to miss his pulse-racing new thriller Lazarus on Prime Video, following the success of a poignant period drama and an electrifying adaptation of an Ibsen classic. The series consists of six episodes, which will be released simultaneously as a boxset for global audiences to binge-watch.

The project was initially announced back in 2024, according to Variety, and is a limited series.

Who stars in Harlan Coben’s Lazarus?

As with most of Coben’s shows, Lazarus features a stellar cast led by The Hunger Games, Peaky Blinders and Me Before You star Sam Claflin, who plays psychiatrist Joel Lazarus/Laz.

Love Actually and Pirates of The Caribbean actor Bill Nighy portrays Laz’s psychiatrist father Dr Jonathan Lazarus.

Meanwhile, Black Mirror and Utopia actress Alexandra Roach takes on the role of Jenna Lazarus.

David Fynn, known for Am I Being Unreasonable? and The Pembrokeshire Murders, plays Seth McGovern.

Karla Crome, known for her roles in Misfits and Under the Dome, plays Bella Catton. Completing the main cast is Kate Ashfield, star of Shaun of the Dead and Sanditon, who portrays Detective Alison Brown.

The ensemble also includes Father Brown’s Jack Deam, Ewan Horrocks, Charlie Mann, Sianad Gregory and Ravi Multani.

What’s the storyline of Harlan Coben’s Lazarus?

Unlike his other adaptations, Lazarus isn’t based on a Coben novel. Instead, the American thriller maestro collaborated with esteemed screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst to create this television series.

The duo previously worked together on Netflix’s Safe and The Five, with Lazarus set to be another riveting watch.

The drama centres around Claflin’s character Laz as he grapples with the aftermath of his father Jonathan’s apparent suicide in his office.

Laz becomes convinced that the person responsible for his father’s death is also the one who murdered his sister Sutton 25 years prior.

As he seeks the truth, Laz begins to experience unsettling hallucinations of his father and other deceased individuals.
