Ricky Gervais dispelled any rumours of death threats made against him, after it was claimed there had been security concerns during the British comedian’s tour.

It was reported that the comedian was increasing his security arrangements for his upcoming tour, after receiving death threats relating to his anti-woke gags.

However, the 61-year-old, who has starred in a string of TV hits including The Office, Derek, Extras and After Life, has laughed off the rumours by tweeting: “1. Haven’t increased security. 2. My tour started a year ago.

3. Haven’t had any death threats. Apart from that, this story is spot on.”

Ricky, who has made a career out of controversial and politically incorrect jokes will be continuing his UK Armageddon tour this Wednesday in Cardiff.

According to The Sun, a source claimed that the star was “made aware that threats have been made to his life”, including “disturbing letters”.

They also went on to say: “Ricky is very aware of the dangers, and he can afford whatever security he wants, so he thought it was a no-brainer”.

But this is something the comedian has since laughed off on Twitter.

Other fans quickly claimed: “So…Twitter is the better source of news here”, and “Don’t let the truth interfere with a narrative Ricky…jeez” in response to the star’s post.

He went on to tweet a poster advertising Armageddon, which started in 2022, captioning it: “Over half way through now. My favourite tour so far.”

Armageddon is the follow-up tour to his hugely popular Netflix special SuperNature, which LGBTQ+ activists slammed for being “anti-trans”.

The original report claimed that at least one threat was made because of a series of jokes about gender identity and the gay community, which then prompted GLAAD, a US LGBT rights group, to label the show as “dangerous”.

However, Ricky defended the performance and said that he wanted to take the “audience to a place it hasn’t been before”.

The remainder of the Armageddon tour will take place in UK cities, including Liverpool, Birmingham, London and Bristol.
