Earlier today, Katie Price expressed relief after discovering the whereabouts of her husband, Lee Andrews, who has been confirmed to be in prison. Lee claimed he was apprehended under suspicion of espionage and is currently detained in Dubai’s infamous Al Awir prison. Speaking to The Sun, Katie shared, “I found him—he’s alive and okay. I told him how worried I was and that I loved him. Our conversation was brief, but he mentioned that the authorities believed he was a spy. Beyond that, I don’t have much information right now.”
Lee, 43, a resident of Dubai, was reportedly arrested on May 14 following his disappearance after missing a flight to the UK. This incident occurred a day after Katie, 48, alleged that she witnessed him tied up in the back of a van.
Contrary to Lee’s claims, reports from The Sun suggest Dubai authorities didn’t arrest him for espionage but instead detained him over issues related to a private civil matter. Officials allegedly informed the publication that the businessman was not being held for spying charges.
Lee is expected to be released on Monday, June 1, though he must pay a fine in the four-figure range. He had been slated to appear alongside Katie in a joint interview on Good Morning Britain on May 12 but was unable to leave Dubai.
In the days preceding his arrest, Lee had vacated his rented apartment and temporarily relocated to his father’s villa in Dubai.
The former glamour model initially told her followers that she believed her husband had been kidnapped. However, Lee’s dad later confirmed that he had been arrested.
“He has not been kidnapped but he is under arrest. I don’t know on what charge,” he told the Daily Mail. “I’m not sure where he is being held. But he will call me later today. He is not at my house.”
Days later, an insider claimed that Lee’s phone had been turned back on.
They told The Sun: “I had been messaging Lee and was getting no response. But on Sunday morning, my messages had gone from a single tick to a double – so that device is back on and being used. Lee has multiple phones but this is the one that is being used now.”
Sources close to Katie have now expressed concern for her as Lee prepares to be released.
“Pals of Katie are scared that she is going to get back with Lee. They thought she’d seen the light when he did a disappearing act on her, but now she’s had this fresh phone call from him from prison, they feel like she’s gone 10 steps backwards,” they told The Mirror.
