Strictly Come Dancing 2023 star Adam Thomas has opened up about the inevitable feelings of “dread” that come with every new school year.
BBC star Adam, 34, is a proud father of two primary-school-aged children, Teddy and Elsie-Rose, whom he shares with his wife Caroline Daly, 32.
With the former Emmerdale actor’s schedule becoming increasingly hectic due to intense Strictly rehearsals, the back-to-school period will be even more stressful for Caroline.
Research from Birds Eye suggests parents spend over a week getting their kids ready to go back to school and that one in two parents class it as one of the most stressful times of the year.
So, as the busy couple prepare to spend less time together than usual, they have joined forces with the frozen foods brand to help reassure parents that they are not alone when it comes to back-to-school stress.
Waterloo Road actor Adam admitted: “I love spending quality time with my kids during the summer holidays, but when September comes, I dread the thought of getting them ready to go back to school as there are just so many different tasks we have to get done from new uniforms, to stocking the fridge for lunch boxes and after school dinners.”
Caroline added: “I know we certainly spend over a week, if not more. Midweek mealtimes are always so hectic, so I’m always looking at how I can make tea times easier for me but also as tasty as possible for the kids.
“Adam and I’s dinner of choice on the first day back would definitely be Birds Eye Fish Fingers but the kids love the Potato Waffles, it’s their go-to! If Elsie had her way, she’d be eating them with jam for breakfast, lunch and dinner!”
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Adam, who is getting ready to hit the dance floor in a couple of weeks, explained: “Usually, Caroline and I split out the ‘back-to-school to do list’ so neither of us feel too overwhelmed, but as parents we’re always looking for any help we can get!”

Caroline also noted: “I know many parents who get stressed by the back-to-school period, and I’ll admit, I’m definitely one of them.
“I do worry about my little ones going back this September, with Adam being super busy with work at the moment.
“A lot of the back-to-school tasks will be sat with me, from buying uniforms to getting them back into a good sleep routine, it can be tricky.
“That said, I always look forward to sitting down with them after a long day and catching up on their days – they always have such sweet stories!
“As Adam will likely not be around much, we’ll definitely be having trusty Birds Eye Chicken Dippers as that’s the kids’ favourite! In fact, Adam and I have now partnered with Birds Eye to help reassure parents that they are not alone during this stressful time.”
Birds Eye will be touring around the UK during the back-to-school week to give parents one less thing to worry about by providing a free nutritious meal bundle for their children.
