Two and a Half Men came close to an early finale once Charlie Sheen left the series. Some will argue that the show was never the same again, however, that’s a debate for another time.

In the following, we’ll take a look back at the last episode of Two and a Half Men, while putting the spotlight on certain moments. Of course, the most memorable part was Charlie Sheen not taking part in the finale, despite the episode hinting that he might return.

Putting the Sheen controversy aside, there were memorable moments, including Jake’s return, and Arnold Schwarzenegger also appearing on the episode. We’ll take a look back at how Arnold entered the mix and why he decided to accept the cameo.

The Two And A Half Men Finale Was Highlighted By Charlie Sheen’s Non-Appearance

Fans of Two and a Half Men wanted some sort of closure on finale night. For most, that meant the return of Charlie Sheen and one that was a possibility, given that he reached out to the show for a return.

Despite lengthy negotiations, both sides could not come to terms, especially when it came to the creative aspect. Charlie wanted an emotional reunion with Alan, while Chuck Lorre pushed back, wanting a speech from Charlie followed by a piano falling on his head…

Ultimately, Lorre told TV Insider he wanted to give fans closure, but it wasn’t going to happen with Sheen.

“There was so much really earnest and heartfelt demand from the fans of the show to have some kind of closure,” Lorre said with TV Insider.

“When we found a way that we felt was workable and appropriate, we reached out to him a month ago and pitched it out to him. He didn’t like it, and he pitched his alternative and we didn’t like that. We shook hands and went our separate ways… It was not meant to be.”

Despite Sheen not making it on the show, Lorre did his best to create appeal by bringing others in, including Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Had A Blast On-Set And Jumped On The Opportunity

Arnold played the role of a police lieutenant during his appearance on Two and a Half Men. According to Chuck Lorre, Arnold was what the show had first envisioned, and everyone was blown away that he agreed to work the sitcom.

Lorre wanted a ‘deadpan’ style of comedy, and got exactly that with Arnold.

“I thought it would be terrific to have an iconic, powerful, authoritative voice and have that person tell us the story of Two and a Half Men in as dry and as deadpan a way as possible. One of the first things we discussed was Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he jumped on it. “

Not only was Arnold a blast on set, but he also had sense of humor about everything, not taking the role too seriously.

“It was one of the coolest days of my career. He was at ease with making fun of himself. And then Christian Slater, the two of them together, it was a hilarious afternoon. Everyone we approached for the finale was eager to participate,” Lorre said.

That wasn’t the only cameo fans enjoyed. There was another return that the audience completely lost it over.

Angus T. Jones Would Also Agree To A Return For The Finale

Similar to Charlie Sheen, Angus T. Jones didn’t have the best exit from the show, telling fans to stop watching the ‘filth’ the series was putting out.

His exit was a tough one for the show but ultimately, he agreed to return for the finale. According to Chuck Lorre, Jones was eager to take back his role as Jake.

“That was an absolute blast. We had a great opportunity to put him in this. We reached out to him, he’s in college now, and he jumped on it,” Lorre told TV Insider about his return.

“We had so much fun that week; it was so much fun working with him again. He’s a terrific guy. When he stepped on to the stage, the place went nuts. It was a great moment, a funny and warm moment for everyone on the show.”

At the very least, fans were given a sense of closure from one missing character. It was revealed that Jake became a millionaire thanks to some money from uncle Charlie, which was used for gambling.
