How Taylor Swift hinted at ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ album ‘years in advance’

Best believe Taylor Swift has been dropping “The Life of a Showgirl” Easter eggs all along.

The pop star’s fans are convinced the 35-year-old teased her forthcoming album “years in advance.”

Since the Grammy winner confirmed her 12th record’s name on a preview clip for Wednesday’s “New Heights” episode, Swifties have been on the hunt for past hints.

Many set their sights on the singer’s 2022 music video for “Bejeweled,” pointing out that she rocked a showgirl costume at the time.

Swift even sat on the hand of a clock pointing to 12, with one social media user drawing attention to the songwriter’s album reveal taking place on the Aug. 12 at 12:12 a.m.

Others, however, insisted, “I fear this was bc it was a song called bejeweled on an album called midnights.”

Two years after the music video dropped, Swift told her fans that she was “back in the office” in an Instagram video taken in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

She walked out to section A12 in the October 2024 footage, which Swifties have also connected to the Aug. 12 date.

Additionally, Swift wore her orange “Lover” bodysuit and orange and green “1989” set in her performance that evening — the colors making up her latest project.

Swift also sported an all-orange “1989” set during the 12th stop of the European leg of her tour in July 2024 after 11 shows of mismatched outfits, one eagle-eyed fan shared.

Another posted pictures of Swift’s Eras Tour book, which included a line about her “showgirl’s dressing room routine” as well as a photo of herself in a green and orange outfit.

“None of this was accidental,” one fan claimed via X.

Swift is known for hinting at her projects with “cryptic clues,” which she discussed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in 2021.

“It’s sort of a tradition that we started a very long time ago,” the actress said at the time, noting that it “got out of control.”

She asked, “How far is too far in advance? Can I hint at something three years in advance? Can I even plan things out that far? I think I’m gonna try to do it.”

Swift praised her fans for going “into the weeds” with her.

“I think it is perfectly reasonable for people to be normal music fans and to have a normal relationship to music, but if you want to go down a rabbit hole with us, come along,” she quipped. “The water is great, jump in.”

The American Music Award’s album news comes nearly three months after she bought back her masters.
