New York-born but Texas-raised rapper Post Malone appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show at the start of October to discuss everything from his stratospheric rise to fame—which saw his net worth hit eight figures—to Justin Bieber and tattoos.
On the show, Post Malone revealed that Justin Bieber was the reason for why he got the first of his many famous tattoos.
He revealed that when he was working with the Canadian superstar on his debut album Stoney, he decided to get a tattoo to show Bieber he was tougher than him.

‘We had a tattoo artist come through, and then I was just like, “You know what? Justin Bieber’s got some tats. And, I love you, but I know I’m way tougher than you,”‘ he said.
‘So, I was always so scared to get one, and then I got one,’ the Better Now hitmaker said.
During the interview, Fallon also asked how Post Malone’s life changed so drastically in just four years.
The host asked: ‘Maybe it was four years ago, you weren’t even playing the guitar?’ and the 23-year-old rapper explained how he ended up being one of the biggest artists of 2018.

Who is Post Malone?
As Post Malone says in the interview with Fallon, he was born in Syracuse, New York but moved to Texas when he was nine-years-old.
He developed an interest in music through Guitar Hero, telling Fallon that he was ‘pretty good’. Good enough to transfer to the real thing as it turned out when his mother bought him a guitar for Christmas at the age of 12.
The name Post Malone came about when the rapper was 14. Malone said he needed a rap name for his mixtape and so he ran his name, Austin Post, through the rap name generator and ended up with Post Malone. ‘And now I’m stuck with it. And the rest is history’.
Malone scored his breakthrough with the hit White Iverson, which became a viral hit on Soundcloud.
As of October 3, 2018, the music video for White Iverson has been watched over 622 million times on YouTube.
The song was the debut single off Malone’s first album, Stoney, which broke the record for most weeks in the Top 10 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart.
By August 2018, it had spent 77 weeks in the Top Ten, breaking the record set by Michael Jackson’s Thriller in 1983-84.
Malone’s second album, Beerbongs & Bentleys was supposed to be released back in 2017, but ended up being pushed back until April 2018.
When it was released, the album broke Spotify’s first day records, racking up nearly 48 million plays in the US and just under 79 million plays worldwide.
Songs off the album such as Rockstar, Better Now and Psycho all hit the top spot in singles charts around the world, including in his home country.
At the same time, Post Malone embarked on a 28-date North American tour with rapper 21 Savage.
In October 2018, Malone appeared on Jimmy Fallon and previewed the song he wrote for the new Venom film, which stars Tom Hardy.
What is Post Malone’s net worth?
Post Malone’s net worth is estimated to be $14 million (£10.7m), according to Celebrity Net Worth.
However, Money Inc estimates Malone’s net worth to be closer to $8 million (£6.1m).
Malone owns two multi-million dollar properties. One is a huge 13,000 square-foot home in North Utah, which the rapper bought for around $3 million in 2017.
According to Money Inc, Malone makes his money through ticket sales from tours such as the one he did with 21 Savage and revenue from downloads of his singles and albums.
The rapper also owned a white Rolls Royce Wraith, which was worth $323,000.
