Adrian ‘Mr Lambo’ Portelli, a prominent bidder on The Block, has swapped his extravagant $800,000 sports car for a more understated $40,000 Audi, following criticism of his ostentatious lifestyle.

The 35-year-old millionaire known for his lavish collection of luxury cars took to Instagram on Saturday to share a snapshot with his new, more modest ride.

In the photo, Portelli is all smiles next to the sleek four-door Audi, which sported a humorous sticker on the rear window declaring, ‘My other car is a Lamborghini’.

He captioned the snap with some telling words: ‘A couple of butt-hurt people about my recent vehicle purchases.

“I’ve chosen to scale things back a bit by driving my little Audi A1 for now,” he commented.

Still, his keen-eyed followers quickly noticed the distinctive license plate reading ’20’, with some suggesting that acquiring such a plate might have cost more than the vehicle itself.

‘I think your registration plate is worth more than my car,’ one follower wrote and a second person added: ‘It sold on Tuesday for $2.54million.’

Portelli has developed a reputation for flaunting his lavish wealth and very expensive car collection on social media.

It comes after Adrian gave fans a glimpse of his lavish car collection earlier this month when he shared a video of the garage at one of his homes.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, he revealed five vehicles were parked in the large carport, including a Lamborghini, high tech dune buggy, and a gold buggy.

Adrian, who first shot to fame as a buyer on The Block and has a well-known taste for flashy cars, also owns a McLaren Senna which he revealed earlier this year.

The wealthy property investor posted a gallery of photos to Instagram showcasing the rare vehicle which is housed in his high-rise penthouse overlooking Melbourne.

In May, Portelli splashed out on the luxury penthouse, breaking a record for the city’s most expensive apartment after paying an eye-watering $39million – He will reportedly use the property as a weekender.

The 35-year-old is a multi-millionaire property investor and online promotions guru with an estimated net worth of $350million.

He also runs his own promotions and giveaway business, focusing on luxury vehicles and prestige houses, and is the owner of The Little Legends Foundation, which provides urgent medical care and offers experiences for vulnerable children.
