The tragic death of a Woolworth’s factory worker has triggered supply shortages at some of its busiest stores.
A 37-year-old man died after being crushed by falling pallets at a Woolworths factory in Minchinbury, in western Sydney, on Tuesday.
The unidentified employee was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition but died the following day.
One picture showed an entirely empty salad section, while another shot showed a fruit section stripped bare. The retail giant has since confirmed the shortages are as a result of the tragic incident

Two other workers who were also injured in the accident have now been discharged from hospital.
Shoppers shared pictures on social media of row-upon-row of empty shelves at Woolworths across Sydney.
One picture showed an entirely empty salad section, while another shot showed a fruit section stripped bare.
The retail giant has since confirmed the shortages are as a result of the tragic incident.
‘There has been an impact on supply for some products, including fruit and vegetables, in some of our Sydney stores,’ a Woolworths spokesperson told 9News.

‘This is due to the tragic accident that took place at one of our distribution centres earlier this week.
‘There has been an impact on supply for some products, including fruit and vegetables, in some of our Sydney stores,’ said a Woolworths spokesperson
‘Our teams are working to return stock to normal levels over the weekend, however there may be slight delays in restocking some products until next week.
‘We thank our customers for their understanding at this time.’
A spokesperson for Primary Connect, part of Woolworths Group’s supply chain, said they were ‘deeply saddened by the tragic incident’.
‘Our thoughts and condolences are with our team member’s friends and family at this difficult time,’ they said.
‘We are cooperating with NSW Police and SafeWork NSW to investigate the incident, and we will also be undertaking our own investigation.
‘Out of respect for the team members and their families, our distribution centre is currently closed.’
Supply chain staff have reportedly been offered counselling services.
