George Alagiah is a journalist, newsreader, and television news presenter from the United Kingdom.

He has been the presenter of BBC News at Six since December 3, 2007.

Since its inception on February 1, 2010, he has been the principal presenter of GMT on BBC World News.

After seven years as a print journalist with South Magazine, Alagiah joined the BBC in 1989.

He won the Asian Awards’ Outstanding Achievement in Television award in 2010.

Yes, George Alagiah has cancer. 

Alagiah was diagnosed with colorectal cancer on April 17, 2014, and began treatment. He reported on Twitter on June 28 that he was making “encouraging progress.”

Similarly, the journalist announced the end of his treatment on Twitter in late October 2015, and he returned to the BBC on November 10.

The disease had returned in January 2018, and he would have to endure more treatment.

Alagiah was diagnosed with COVID-19 in mid-March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and had minimal symptoms.

Moreover, Alagiah revealed in June 2020 that his cancer had spread to his lungs, liver, and lymph nodes but that it was not “chronic” or “terminal.”

George Alagiah’s intestinal cancer has migrated to his lungs, according to him.

Doctors informed the 65-year-old BBC newsreader and journalist in April, according to The Times newspaper.

He did stress, though; his illness is not “chronic” or “terminal.”

Alagiah was diagnosed with colon cancer for the first time in 2014; then, the disease returned in 2017. His lungs, liver, and lymph nodes have all been affected.

He was also infected with coronavirus in March of last year, but because the virus was so weak, he “ignored” it.

The journalist also assumed that his problems were a result of his chemotherapy.
