Jonathan Dearden holds the esteemed position of Corporate Chef at KNEAD Hospitality + Design, a renowned restaurant group in Washington, D.C. Growing up in Sterling, Virginia, Jonathan discovered his culinary passion early, alongside his identical twin, Brandon Dearden, who is also a Top Chef contestant. Jonathan’s talent has been spotlighted in the culinary world as he was a finalist on Chopped and also took on the culinary challenge in Beat Bobby Flay.
Jonathan’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in culinary management from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. He honed his skills under the guidance of James Beard Award-winning chefs, such as Allen Susser and Edward Lee, and had the opportunity to collaborate with José Andrés and World Central Kitchen. Alexandria-based chef Jonathan Dearden is competing in the 23rd season of the popular Bravo TV show “Top Chef.” A natural born competitor who thrives in chaos, Jonathan is ready to face off against his brother in the Top Chef kitchen.
The cheftestants will be competing for the show’s $250,000 grand prize, along with some other major perks, including a feature in Food & Wine magazine, an appearance at the annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, a chance to headline their own exclusive dinner at the historic James Beard House in New York, and the opportunity to present at The James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards in Chicago, IL.
Along the way, the chefs will also have the chance to win immunity, advantages in the competition, or cash prizes with more than $150,000 in total up for grabs, according to Bravo.
