John Cena is scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk at Night of Champions on June 28, 2025, in Saudi Arabia. However, there are growing rumors that The Cenation Leader could be stripped of the title before the highly anticipated match.
On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Cena faced off against R-Truth (now going by his real name, Ron Killings) in a rematch from Saturday Night’s Main Event. The contest ended in disqualification after Cena struck Killings with the championship belt. Before any further damage could be done, CM Punk appeared, leading to a brawl between him and Cena.
The altercation concluded with Cena delivering an Attitude Adjustment to Punk through a table. Adding fuel to the fire, Cena mocked Punk with a parody of the infamous “pipebomb” promo and sarcastically labeled him “Mr. TKO.” These provocative actions could lead to consequences from WWE higher-ups, particularly The Rock, who now sits on the TKO Board of Directors.
Given The Rock’s pivotal role in Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber, and helping him become a 17-time world champion, it’s speculated that he could now push for disciplinary action—potentially stripping Cena of his title.

While this is a compelling theory, it remains speculative at this point. WWE’s creative direction, led by Triple H, has not confirmed any such plans.
Could Seth Rollins Replace John Cena at Night of Champions?
Should Cena be removed from the match, Seth Rollins appears to be a leading candidate to take his place. Rollins and Punk have a long-standing rivalry that intensified after Paul Heyman aligned himself with Rollins at WrestleMania 41.
Rollins recently secured the 2025 Men’s Money in the Bank briefcase, granting him the opportunity to challenge for a world title at any time. This scenario opens the door for Triple H to authorize a sudden cash-in, possibly leading to a CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins match for the Undisputed Championship at Night of Champions.
As of now, no official decisions have been made, and all developments remain in the realm of speculation.
