Todd Flood is an attorney in Detroit, Michigan. He is the managing partner of Flood Law, PLLC, one of Metro Detroit’s premier law firms specializing in Criminal and Civil Litigation. He is also the host of “Behind the Bench”.

Before establishing Flood Law in 2002, Flood worked as an Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor. Before leaving the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, he was promoted to Principal Attorney in charge of the Drug House Unit under Mike Duggan.

Since leaving the Prosecutor’s Office, Flood has been recognized for litigating complicated civil claims, including wrongful death suits, civil rights violations and whistleblower actions.

His work has earned him several recognitions, including Top Lawyer in the State of Michigan, A Fellow of the State Bar – an honor earned by less than one percent of the Bar – a Fellow of the Oakland County Bar, recognition from Crain’s Detroit Business as a top lawyer, multiple awards in the Super Lawyers publication, and a Lawyers Weekly Award as one of the Top Ten Lawyers of the Year in the State.

Flood has regularly been called upon to step in to prosecute cases while in private practice, having been designated a Special Assistant Attorney General to prosecute cases in Oakland County and assist in prosecuting a pharmaceutical company.

Flood graduated from Lake Superior State University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and polictical science in 1987. He earned his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law.

Attorney Todd Flood is married to investigative reporter Heather Catallo. A metro-Detroit native, Heather is an award-winning investigative reporter at WXYZ-TV. According to Deadline Detroit, the pair married in May 2022 at the Detroit Golf Club. For both, it’s their second marriage. Flood said they first met “a long time ago” when their paths crossed on some cases.

Todd Flood has an estimated net worth of $10 million from his legal career as a prosecutor and an attorney at his Royal Oak-based law firm. He was a special prosecutor for the Michigan Attorney General’s Office for the Flint water case from 2016-2019.

Documents requested by MLive-The Flint Journal from the state show that Flood Law had been paid $8,194,877 as of March 2019, — payments that include the cost of special assistant prosecutors and legal support staff, investigators, information technology related costs, experts and costs associated with identifying, collecting and producing electronically stored information.

Flood left his position at the Attorney General’s Office in April 2019. Courtney Covington, a spokeswoman for the Attorney General’s Office, said Flood’s firm, which included a team of lawyers and investigators, was paid $8.5 million in total.
