Victoria Mary Clarke has admitted that she used to have a very sweet tooth and avoided the dentist for most of her adult life.
She said that she was attracted to Shane MacGowan’s bad teeth, which were a sign of rebelliousness and free spirit.
However, after 40 years of chewing toffees and five extractions later, she decided to change her mind and seek professional help.
In 2016, she underwent a major dental operation, in which she had five teeth extracted and some metal screws drilled into her jaws.
She also had bone grafting to prepare for implants. She posted a live video on Facebook before and after the surgery, showing her swollen face and bandaged mouth.

She later revealed that she had 28 new teeth installed, which cost her about €50,000. She said that she was very happy with the result and that she felt more confident and beautiful.

Victoria Mary Clarke’s husband, Shane MacGowan, was one of the most influential and iconic figures in Irish music.

Shane MacGowan had a long history of health problems, mainly caused by his addiction to alcohol and drugs.
