“Every day, he would come into the house and ask, ‘Mom, can I play football?’” she said after getting the awards. I said, “No, no one is touching you or roughing you up.” She went on to say, “Chuba wasn’t famous at the time, and I was used to seeing him run track. Candace also says that she didn’t think Chuba would be good at football at first. But as time went on, she put her favourite son into a football academy when he was nine years old.

“I didn’t want to send him away where I couldn’t watch him,” the proud mother said. His high school years were very important, so I’m glad I kept him home and was able to watch over him. He still had his coaches, his football, and all the support he needed here, which I think is very important for all these kids.”
