Who Was Aaron Carter?

American singer and composer Aaron Carter. With his four studio albums, he established himself as a celebrity among preteen and teenage audiences throughout the first years of the new century. He first gained notoriety as a teen pop singer in the late 1990s.

Following the foundation of his brother Nick’s band the Backstreet Boys, Carter started performing at the age of seven. At the age of nine, he published his self-titled first album, which went on to sell one million copies worldwide. Three million copies of his second album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) (2000) were sold in the country. Shortly after the album’s release, Carter started performing on Nickelodeon and toured with the Backstreet Boys.

Oh Aaron, Carter’s subsequent album, also achieved platinum status. Another Earthquake!, the musician’s final studio album in more than 15 years, was published in 2002, and his 2003 Most Requested Hits compilation followed.

Carter did multiple one-off performances, as well as appearances on Dancing with the Stars, Seussical on Broadway, and The Fantasticks off Broadway. He released the song “Ooh Wee” in 2014, which features the rapper Pat SoLo. In 2016 and 2017, respectively, Carter released the single “Fool’s Gold” and the Love EP. 2018 saw the release of his fifth studio album, also titled Love. Blacklisted, his sixth and last album was released two days after his passing.

Even though the singer’s death is still under investigation, new, troubling information has come to light two days following his passing. According to the Los Angeles Times and TMZ, police discovered evidence of medication and compressed air canisters in Carter’s main bedroom and bathroom. Carter, 34, was frank about his struggles with chemical misuse, including a huffing addiction.

The Times has been informed by two law enforcement sources that Carter was discovered dead in his bathtub on Saturday. Shortly after 11 a.m., the Lancaster home of Carter was visited by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. At the scene, Carter’s death was confirmed. According to the report, his body was in the water for some time before it was found.

Yahoo Entertainment reached out to the L.A. County Sheriff, but a spokesperson said they are not releasing additional information at this time. The investigation is being handled by the homicide department, which is standard. The detective handling the case is expected to provide more details later this week.

The Los Angeles County’s coroner’s office performed an autopsy on Carter on Sunday, Yahoo can confirm, but the cause of death was deferred. That means the medical examiner is awaiting more information, like toxicology reports. Once results of the chemical tests are back, the doctor evaluates the case again and will make the cause of death determination.

Aaron, a bisexual man, dated Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan (at the same time) in the early 2000s and was previously engaged to actress/model Kari Ann Peniche.
