In a tragic incident in Pennsylvania, a woman who had just stepped out of a Lyft was fatally struck while crossing the street. Authorities reveal she was hit so forcefully that she was thrown into a parked car.

The Philadelphia Police Department has identified the victim as Talyia Bernice Nesmith, aged 29. The search for the driver responsible is currently underway.

Police are urging the public’s assistance in locating the suspect’s vehicle, which is believed to have passenger-side and possibly windshield damage. The car was last seen heading east on Elmwood Avenue.

First responders arrived promptly at the scene on Elmwood Avenue and rushed Nesmith to a nearby hospital. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at approximately 4:05 a.m.

Lakisha Smith, Nesmith’s mother, is grieving a daughter she described as compassionate and loving.

“I just don’t understand how someone felt like it was okay to hit my child and keep going,” she told local ABC affiliate WPVI. “I just want the person that did this to please turn themselves in … they took the life of a 29-year-old that had so much ahead of her.”

A witness whose surveillance footage has been part of the investigation said, “It’s difficult to watch.” Michael Williams added: “Out of nowhere this car just came blazing down the street and she didn’t even have time to react to it.”
