Chicago police have charged a third suspect who allegedly acted as the getaway driver for a hitman hired by the victim’s ex to kill her.
According to Fox 32, police arrested 29-year-old Rosalio Diaz-Zarate in connection with the death of an unnamed Chicago woman who reportedly died at the hands of a hitman hired by her ex, Seferino Calihua-Rodriguez, 35.
Along with Diaz-Zarate and Calihua-Rodriguez, police also arrested Misael Chavarin-Plazola, 26, following the shooting investigation.
The investigation began Friday around 6:05 a.m., when North Chicago police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1000 block of Victoria Avenue. They found the victim deceased inside a vehicle, from gunshot wounds.
Investigators said they learned Calihua-Rodriguez allegedly became upset when his relationship with the victim ended, prompting him to hire Chavarin-Plazola to kill her.

Police said the victim was sitting inside a vehicle off of 11th Street when Chavarin-Plazola shot and killed her. He then tried to shoot another person trying to get into the vehicle but missed, police said. Chavarin-Plazola then fled in a vehicle that Diaz-Zarate was driving.
Law enforcement apprehended Calihua-Rodriguez the same day of the shooting. Chavarin-Plazola was arrested the following day on Saturday, then captured Diaz-Zarate on Monday.
Calihua-Rodriguez is facing two counts of first-degree murder, solicitation of murder for hire, and attempted first-degree murder. Chavarin-Plazola and Diaz-Zarate were each charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
The victim has not yet been identified, pending notification of her family. Check back for updates.
