Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – JeanDaniel Junior Filsaime, 43, was arrested last night after allegedly pushing his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, throwing food all over the kitchen, hitting her, and damaging her furniture.

At about 9 p.m. on December 25, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to an apartment in the Tower Oaks Glen complex and reported that he found shattered glass all over the floor of the apartment; a heavily damaged bookshelf; and pots, pans, and food all over the floor.

The victim said her relative and Filsaime were in the apartment earlier in the evening, the two men started arguing, and Filsaime was asked to leave. She said her relative left a short time later, and Filsaime knocked on the front door at about 8:55 p.m. She said she looked out the window and saw Filsaime at the door and her relative in the parking lot, and she opened the door and asked Filsaime to leave. She said he pushed her back into the house and punched her in the face several times.

The victim said she retreated to the kitchen, where Filsaime threw pots of food all over the kitchen; her relative reportedly came back into the apartment to protect the victim and got into a physical fight with Filsaime before pushing him out of the apartment. During the fight, Filsaime allegedly kicked a bookshelf, damaging it and scattering broken glass all over the apartment.

The deputy reported that the victim had minor injuries on her face; the damage to the bookshelf was estimated at $1,400.

The relative reportedly corroborated the victim’s story.

Filsaime was found a short time later at the Circle K at 7302 SW Archer Road and reportedly stated spontaneously, “I wasn’t there today.”

Post Miranda, Filsaime reportedly declined to answer questions.

Filsaime has been charged with burglary with battery, battery with a prior aggravated battery conviction, and property damage over $1,000. He has five felony convictions (one violent) and seven misdemeanor convictions (three violent). He was last arrested on November 10 after allegedly accidentally hitting a server at Waffle House while fighting with someone else and was released on $16,000 bail. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him held without bail on the new charges pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
