In a tragic incident at a Walmart near Savannah, Georgia, a man has been charged with murder following a deadly altercation that occurred in October.
Authorities detained 48-year-old Delano Middleton on Thursday. The arrest follows an October 23 incident at the Whitemarsh Island Walmart, situated roughly eight miles from Savannah, as detailed by the Chatham County Police Department.
The confrontation reportedly began when 18-year-old J.T. Schroeder kicked Middleton’s shopping cart as he passed by. This seemingly minor altercation quickly escalated, with Middleton allegedly stabbing Schroeder multiple times.
Emergency medical services rushed Schroeder to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, according to a report by WTOC 11.
Police have conducted interviews with numerous witnesses present at the scene to piece together the events of that fateful day.
WJCL reports that Middleton has a criminal history, with previous arrests on aggravated assault, battery, and weapons charges.
Meanwhile, police said they will not be releasing additional information regarding the case at this time.
Middleton remains behind bars at the Chatham County Detention Center.
