A Pennsylvania judge has ruled that the man accused in the unsettling disappearance of a local woman will remain behind bars with bail set at $2.5 million. This decision was handed down on Thursday amid ongoing concerns and unanswered questions surrounding the case.
According to WPVI, the suspect, Keon King, aged 21, is facing severe charges including kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment, and several other offenses. Philadelphia authorities assert that King was the last known individual to be in contact with 23-year-old Kada Scott before she inexplicably vanished on October 4. The charges also encompass criminal use of a communication facility, stalking, reckless endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence.
The case has garnered significant attention, especially since Scott disappeared after leaving her night shift early at a nursing home. Investigations have unveiled that cell phone data allegedly traced King’s movements with Scott’s phone on the night she went missing, prior to the device being abruptly switched off. Her vehicle was later discovered in the nursing home’s parking lot, adding to the mystery.
In a statement, Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig underscored that Scott had no prior history of disappearing and that her colleagues did not observe anything unusual before her sudden absence. Nevertheless, troubling details emerged as Craig revealed that Scott had reported someone persistently harassing her via phone shortly before her disappearance.

Further complicating the narrative, The Philadelphia Inquirer highlights King’s past legal troubles, noting that he faced charges twice in the previous year for allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend. These incidents reportedly involved accusations of kidnapping and choking the woman in a vehicle. However, both cases were dismissed when the victim failed to appear in court.
In light of his latest arrest, Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski refiled the prior kidnapping charges against King. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Toczylowski’s office did not handle the previous kidnapping case involving his ex-girlfriend.
A video posted to TikTok on Wednesday reportedly shows King jumping over a fence and peering into a woman’s home. A woman, who is not on camera, is heard telling the man to “go away” as he continued to look through windows around the home. The woman was also filmed telling someone to call the police.
Toczylowski identified King as the man in the TikTok video — telling WCAU that the incident occurred an hour before he kidnapped a woman, threw her in a car, and assaulted her. King eventually released the woman, Toczylowski said, noting that a 2-year-old was in the back seat as the violent incident unfolded.
“Ultimately, when the complaining witness and eyewitness on that case stepped out of the property later that day, that is when the kidnapping occurred and he grabbed the victim, put her in the car, drove away and assaulted her,” she said.
While King was charged with kidnapping for that incident, the case was dropped in May because the victim did not appear in court.
WCAU reported that King also has pending charges for driving away from a police officer during a traffic stop and driving without a license. Those trials are scheduled to begin in November and December of this year.
