Inset: Robin N. Jackson (Delaware County Jail). Background: The area in Indiana where the alleged attack occurred.
In a disturbing incident in Indiana, a 41-year-old woman stands accused of masterminding a brutal assault on a man who was asleep at the time. Robin Naomi Jackson allegedly roused the victim by kicking him awake, only to let loose two male attackers on him, resulting in severe injuries including a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and a significant laceration near his eye.
Authorities have charged Jackson with a range of serious offenses. These include burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both felonies, in addition to charges of battery causing serious bodily harm, methamphetamine possession, residential entry, and neglect of a dependent, as detailed in court records.
Court documents, obtained by The Star Press, reveal that Jackson went to a residence on the 800 block of North Jefferson Street. She was accompanied by two males, one reportedly being her juvenile son. The intended victim reported to police that he had been asleep when Jackson abruptly kicked the side of his bed, jolting him awake.
According to WXIN, a Milwaukee Fox affiliate, Jackson allegedly warned the victim, “I told you your a— whooping was coming,” right before the assault commenced.
She then allegedly sicced the two men on him. The victim reportedly told investigators that his attackers began punching him before moving on to “kicking and stomping him in the head, face and ribs.”
The beating left the man struggling to breathe. At one point, after the victim had fallen to the floor and had “a large amount of blood coming from his face,” one of the attackers apparently suggested that the victim needed an ambulance.
“He doesn’t need a f—ing ambulance,” Jackson replied, per WXIN.
Officers responding to the home found the victim bleeding heavily from his face and having difficulty walking. Police also reportedly found a “fair amount” of blood inside the residence.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital, where the staff determined he had suffered a collapsed lung, several broken ribs, a large laceration near his left eye socket and a broken tooth.
The victim said he believed the attack stemmed from a previous dispute between Jackson and his wife. He claimed that about a month before he was attacked, Jackson had choked his wife with so much force that it put her in the hospital.
Police arrested Jackson during a traffic stop at Granville and Centennial avenues the following day. A young child was in the back of Jackson’s truck when she was arrested; the child had allegedly also been brought to the home during the assault, according to WXIN.
Jackson was booked into the Delaware County Jail. She remained in detention Friday afternoon on an $18,000 bond, records show. She is scheduled to appear for her initial hearing Aug. 28.
The two men accused of participating in the beating had not been arrested or publicly identified as of Friday afternoon.
