GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 40-year-old woman, Candice Renee Collier, faces charges following her arrest yesterday. She allegedly drove her car toward a neighbor amid an argument over a coveted parking spot.
The incident unfolded around 11:10 a.m. on June 30. An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to Holly Heights, where a woman reported a confrontation with Collier. According to the victim, she asked Collier to relocate one of her numerous vehicles—some reportedly non-operational—to make room.
A dispute erupted between the neighbors over the parking arrangement. The victim claimed that during the argument, Collier climbed into a gray SUV, reversed it from its grassy spot, then drove it forward and right, heading directly toward her. She recounted to authorities that she had to leap out of the SUV’s path to evade being struck.
Officials noted that the event was captured by a doorbell camera, providing video evidence of the tense moment.
Post Miranda, Collier reportedly said she drove toward the victim in self-defense because the victim said she would beat her up.
Collier has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has no criminal convictions, but previous charges of aggravated stalking (2021), hit and run (2021) and battery (2024) were dropped. Collier posted bail of $5,000 before attending a First Appearance hearing.
