CHICAGO (WLS) — Brace yourself, Chicago residents, as Thursday promises another round of intense heat in the region.
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for the entire area, expected to remain in place until the day’s end.

According to ABC7 Accuweather Meteorologist Jaisol Martinez, temperatures will soar into the mid-90s, with the heat index potentially hitting a sweltering 105 degrees.
Later on Thursday evening, there’s a possibility of a few thunderstorms rolling through.
As for Friday, the area faces a Level 2 risk for severe weather, with strong winds and hail being the primary threats in the afternoon.

Even with the Extreme Heat Warning expiring Friday, temperatures are still forecast to remain hot, with highs near 90 degrees and heat index values in the upper 90s.
For the 4th of July, there could be storms early in the morning and another chance for storms late in the afternoon while staying hot and humid.
Doctors and city officials are reminding people to check on neighbors, stay hydrated and use cooling centers, if needed.
The best way to avoid heat-related illness and stay safe is to stay indoors and use fans and air conditioning to keep your home cool. Limit your time outdoors. Stay out of the sun. Wear loose, light clothing and drink lots of water and fluids to remain hydrated.

People can also find relief at one of the city’s public libraries, Chicago Park District fieldhouses, as well as pools and splash pads.
