GAINESVILLE, Fla. – James W. McCray III, 19, was arrested early October 3 after authorities said he threatened to shoot a woman inside a Circle K on Southeast Hawthorne Road.
Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the store at 4310 SE Hawthorne Road at approximately 1:09 a.m. The woman told deputies that McCray entered the business with a firearm visible in his waistband. After she asked him to leave, the two reportedly argued. As McCray headed toward the exit, he allegedly turned back, pointed the gun at her and said, “I’ll kill you, [expletive].” The woman said the incident left her fearing for her life.
A witness also reportedly told investigators that she saw McCray enter the Circle K with a firearm tucked into his waistband.
