GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities in Gainesville are actively on the lookout for a slender black male who reportedly issued threats to patrons inside the Burger King located on W. Newberry Road earlier this evening.
The incident unfolded around 6:10 p.m. when the Gainesville Police Department received a call about a suspicious individual at the Burger King situated at 6123 W. Newberry Road. As officers made their way to the scene, they were informed that the suspect was armed and had been making threats of violence against those inside the establishment.
Displaying quick thinking and composure, the restaurant’s employees managed to evacuate both customers and staff safely. Initial reports suggested that the suspect might have barricaded himself inside a restroom. Upon arrival, officers, with the support of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an exhaustive search of the premises but were unable to locate the individual.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a white shirt, black pants, and black shoes, and was last seen carrying a black backpack.
