An 18-year-old from High Springs, Ayden Luke Baudoin, found himself in serious trouble yesterday morning in Gainesville, Florida. He faces charges of felony property damage after allegedly causing considerable harm to a parked car by kicking its door.
The incident, which unfolded around 5:40 a.m. on May 6, was witnessed by an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy. According to the deputy, Baudoin deliberately targeted a parked vehicle downtown, inflicting damage estimated at $1,400. He is also accused of kicking a nearby vehicle during the same episode.
Following his arrest and after being read his rights, Baudoin reportedly confessed to kicking the second vehicle multiple times. He claimed he mistook it for a friend’s car and was acting out of frustration after his friends reportedly abandoned him. However, he denied any involvement with the first vehicle, which belonged to the victim.
A Gainesville Police Department officer who responded to the scene observed that the damage inflicted on both vehicles appeared to be of a similar nature.
The responding Gainesville Police Department officer noted that the damage to both vehicles was similar.
Baudoin, who told Court Services he is a high school student, has been charged with felony property damage. He has no criminal history, and Judge Adam Lee released him on his own recognizance with a requirement to report to Court Services today and to refrain from consuming alcohol or drugs.
