HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – The High Springs Police Department has issued a warning about a series of sophisticated scams that are deceiving individuals through video calls, fraudulent package deliveries, and the solicitation of large sums of money.
These scammers are utilizing social media platforms and messaging apps to reach their targets. They often impersonate government officials, law enforcement officers, delivery service personnel, or individuals promoting financial opportunities. In many instances, victims are persuaded to send or transfer significant amounts of money, believing they are covering costs related to “packages,” “fees,” or “secure transactions.”
The police have highlighted that these scams are highly organized. Currently, the High Springs Police Department is actively investigating two cases in which victims have suffered losses amounting to thousands of dollars due to these fraudulent activities.
- Video calls to appear legitimate
- Fake tracking information or package delivery claims
- Requests for cash, wire transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency
- Threats, pressure tactics, or promises of financial gain
The High Springs Police Department is currently investigating two active cases involving thousands of dollars in losses related to these scams.
