An Illinois woman is charged with intentionally running over her boyfriend in her car, leaving him with significant injuries.
Emily Mora, 27, has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, two counts of domestic battery, two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported.
Manuel Mandujano, Lake County’s assistant state’s attorney, explained that Mora and her boyfriend had gone to a bar in Wheeling together on October 1, but started arguing as they drove. The boyfriend pulled into a Domino’s parking lot and got out of the car. Mora slid into the driver’s seat and began driving off as the boyfriend walked in the opposite direction down the street.

Mora did a U-turn and returned, but the boyfriend began running. Mora hit him, but claimed it was an accident.
Witnesses said it appeared to them that she “gunned it” and hit him intentionally. According to Mandujano, the boyfriend suffered serious injuries to his hands and face.
Mora was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday.
