A Kansas man was arrested in connection with the shooting death of his 1-year-old daughter.

On Friday night, Wichita police and EMS responded to a shooting shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of S. Santa Fe Ave, according to The Wichita Eagle.

The father of the infant, a 25-year-old Wichita man, has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated child endangerment and possession of a firearm by a felon, KAKE reported.

At the time of the shooting, there was another child in the house who was unharmed and has since been placed into protective custody. The victim’s mother was questioned by authorities and released.

The infant was shot in the upper body and did not survive her injuries.

Authorities have not released any names of the family at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to those who loved her and are affected during this incredibly difficult time,” Wichita Police Chief Joseph Sullivan said in a news release.

“We remain committed to seeking justice on her behalf.”

The story is developing. Check back for updates.
