GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a startling incident, Michael Neil Wallace, 48, found himself in police custody following a social media post in which he allegedly threatened the life of a Gainesville Police Department officer. This officer had recently been involved with Wallace in an investigative capacity.
The troubling message was posted on Facebook on August 13, 2025. In the post, Wallace criticized the officer for what he described as an “illegal search” of his barber shop, “Posh Haircuts for Men.” Additionally, Wallace accused the officer of being overly interested in his wife and used a series of derogatory terms against him. The message culminated in a stark warning, “I just publicly told him if he ever comes near me or my wife again, I’m going to kill him. Period. Try me.”
This bold declaration of intent was attributed to a Facebook account under Wallace’s name. The profile prominently features a photo of Wallace standing in front of a sign that reads “POSH,” aligning with the business he owns.
The officer who was the target of the threat recalled previous interactions with Wallace dating back to May 2025. During that earlier episode, Wallace had been placed under the Baker Act. Following this, he had made another post involving the officer, which mentioned the officer’s family and noted a distinctive tattoo on the officer’s arm, though it did not contain any threats.
The August post caused the victim to fear for his and his family’s safety.
Wallace has been charged with making a written threat to kill. He has five felony convictions (non-violent) and 19 misdemeanor convictions; he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2006. He is also facing charges in Marion County for stalking and making a written threat to kill. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $500,000.
