In Arizona, a chilling call to 911 revealed a man’s confession to a horrific crime. Jonathan Turk calmly explained to the dispatcher how he used both a hammer and a knife to murder his parents, reportedly out of anger over them putting him on medication, according to police.
“They’re lying on the floor,” were the haunting words spoken by 29-year-old Turk during the call, as noted in the 911 transcripts obtained by AZFamily. He added, “I was angry with them.”
According to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime on Wednesday, Turk assured the dispatcher he would exit the family’s Peoria home, holding only a water bottle, as he awaited the arrival of law enforcement officers.
“He advised he would cooperate,” the affidavit succinctly states, indicating Turk’s willingness to comply with the authorities.
Officers entered the residence and saw “blood evidence” on the kitchen floor and stairs. Turk’s father, Fraser Turk, was found “covered in blood” with at least one stab wound; his body was at the top of the first landing of the stairs.
Turk’s mother, Tina Turk, was found unresponsive inside the master bathroom with head trauma. Paramedics arrived at the scene and declared the parents dead.
“While clearing the residence, officers observed, in plain view, a hammer and knife with apparent blood inside a trashcan in an upstairs bedroom,” the affidavit says. “During a custodial interview, and under Miranda, [Jonathan Turk] declined to make any statements.”
While on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, cops say Jonathan Turk calmly told them the following:
“A murder.”
“My parents.”
“Uh, I did it.”
Turk allegedly went to Walmart on the day of the double murder and was caught on camera buying the hammer police believe he used.
According to court documents obtained by AZFamily, Jonathan Turk’s mental health started declining in 2023 and his family tried to get him help multiple times over the years, including three times right before the murders.
Jonathan Turk is facing two counts of murder. He’s being held on a $2 million cash-only bond.
