HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – John David Mills, 42, of Gainesville, was arrested yesterday after allegedly recording video of a woman changing clothes in a fitting room at the Bealls Outlet in High Springs. Mills is a Sexual Offender who was previously convicted of recording video of an undressed minor in Virginia in 2018.

At about 11:45 a.m. on December 18, a High Springs Police Department officer responded to Bealls Outlet (20201 N. U.S. Hwy 441, High Springs), where the victim said she had been trying on bras when she looked up and saw a cell phone pointed at her. She said she yelled “Stop!” and the man ran out of the store.

The officer reported that the entire incident was captured on the store’s surveillance video and showed a company logo on the suspect’s shirt. A detective contacted the company, which turned out to be Mills’s employer, and the employer called Mills and asked him to meet a customer at the Civic Center in High Springs.

Officers reportedly made contact with Mills at the Civic Center park, and post Miranda, Mills reportedly confessed to recording the victim in the fitting room.

Mills has been charged with video voyeurism of a victim over the age of 19. He was convicted of recording video of an undressed minor in Virginia in 2018 and has been designated a Sexual Offender in Florida. Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail at $150,000.
