In a shocking case from New Mexico, a man accused of murdering two individuals last Friday reportedly confessed to authorities that he was acting under the orders of a cockroach.

When police arrived at the scene in Albuquerque following reports of gunshots, they encountered 25-year-old Alexis Hernandez. He was allegedly armed with a gun and had a “Marine Corps saber” at his side. Hernandez identified himself as a Marine and informed officers about the presence of two deceased men inside the residence, as reported by the Albuquerque Journal.

According to People, one victim was discovered with what appeared to be gunshot wounds inside the main house, while another man, likely stabbed, was found in an adjacent apartment.

Hernandez is said to have told investigators that he received an encrypted message from a cockroach that compelled him to commit the murders. He further explained that one of the victims, whom he considered a friend, had been allegedly stalking him and hiding cameras in light fixtures, as per the Albuquerque Journal.

Authorities noted that Hernandez claimed to be “hearing creepy voices emanating from vents” and believed he was receiving signals that he needed to eliminate one of the men before he himself became a target.

Hernandez reportedly confessed to killing the two men, describing how he shot them before obtaining more ammunition from his vehicle to shoot them some more.

Bernalillo County police said there were three other adults and two children in the home at the time of Friday’s incident. KOB reported that the three adults were detained for questioning, and the children were safely removed from the scene.

According to the news outlet, the two shooting victims were Hector Rios and another man only identified as “Yorces.” Rios reportedly owned the property where Friday’s shooting transpired. Rios was also the friend whom Hernandez accused of stalking.

Hernandez was booked into jail on Saturday under two open counts of murder. The incident remains under investigation.
