In a shocking incident, a professional cornhole athlete, who is also a quadruple amputee, has been accused of murder after allegedly shooting and killing a friend during a confrontation inside his Tesla SUV on Sunday night.

Dayton James Webber, aged 27, was driving with three passengers in La Plata, Maryland, when a dispute erupted between him and the individual seated next to him, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

“The altercation took place around 10:30 PM,” Diane Richardson from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office shared with WBAL. “Webber and three others were traveling along Radio Station Road when a conflict arose between him and the front-seat passenger. The reason for the argument is unclear. However, information indicates that Webber, who was driving, shot the passenger.”

Following the incident, Webber reportedly stopped the car and asked the passengers in the back to assist in removing the body, a request they refused. They exited the vehicle, after which Webber drove away with the deceased still inside. The surviving passengers soon alerted the authorities.

Despite an initial search by officers yielding no results, approximately two hours later, a Charlotte Hall resident, located about 12 miles from La Plata, contacted 911 to report a body discovered in their yard. Responding officers identified the deceased as Webber’s victim, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.

He has been identified as Bradrick Michael Wells, 27.

Some time later, authorities in Charlottesville, Virginia — more than 100 miles from Charlotte Hall — called the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and said they’d found Webber’s car that that he was in a hospital. He was arrested after his release from the hospital.

He is now awaiting extradition to Maryland from the Albermarle County jail in Virginia. He   faces charges of first- and second-degree murder and other related charges.

WBAL said that Webber became a quadruple amputee at 10 months when he suffered from a serious blood infections.
