A Wisconsin teenager has been charged with reckless homicide after he allegedly crashed into another driver at a high speed while driving drunk.

Carter Green, 18, was booked into the Outagamie County Jail on Monday, two days after he was involved in a fiery, high-speed crash that took the life of 27-year-old Casey Sjoberg. According to a criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, Green was the driver of a Chevy Malibu that allegedly ran a red light at approximately 130 to 145 mph and collided with Sjoberg”s Dodge Neon.

After police arrived at the scene and noticed “the odor of intoxicants,” they asked Green if he had been drinking. He responded, “Absolutely not.” Field sobriety tests allegedly proved otherwise.

Police said that after midnight on Oct. 4, officers responded to reports of a crash in Appleton that involved two vehicles, one of which was reportedly on fire. Sjoberg, who was driving the Dodge Neon, was unresponsive at the scene and stuck inside his car. His passenger was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Sjoberg was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

When police located Green, he and his passenger were safely out of his Chevy Malibu. Green’s passenger, who was not identified, reportedly had minor injuries and was asleep at the time of the crash. He told police that he and Green had been at a bonfire at a friend’s house before the pair headed to the Beansnappers strip club. Police said that Green’s passenger reportedly saw Green drink several beers at the bonfire and at the club.

Two days later, police said that Green’s passenger showed up at the Appleton Police Department and told a police sergeant that immediately following the crash, Green woke him up. Green’s friend told police that Green kept saying, “I’m screwed, I’m screwed, I’m screwed.” He further told police that he allegedly saw Green’s speedometer read 130 mph, adding that he believed Green was “hauling.” According to the complaint, Green reportedly had a new turbo installed in the car the day before the crash.

When police investigated traffic cameras that caught Green’s vehicle before the crash, they estimated that the Malibu was traveling at a speed between 130 and 145 mph. It was also determined by police that Green allegedly ran a red light before colliding into Sjoberg’s car.

Police stated that when they encountered Green at the crash site, he appeared to be “clearly intoxicated” and “seemed to have no remorse or concern for the other people involved in the crash.” He denied being under the influence or having anything to drink.

According to the criminal complaint, Green blew a 0.178 on a breath test, more than twice Wisconsin’s legal limit of 0.08 for drivers over the age of 21. Drivers under the age of 21 are not legally allowed to drive with any alcohol in their system.

Green was charged with first-degree reckless homicide with modifications for being under the influence. He is being held at the Outagamie County Jail; his bond amount was not available. Green is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec. 1.
