Preliminary toxicology reports indicate three men who died after watching a Kansas City Chiefs game at a friend’s home last month had traces of fentanyl and cocaine in their systems.

Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson, and David Harrington were found dead in the backyard of their friend, Jordan Willis, two days after watching the football game, as CrimeOnline has reported. Their families have angrily blamed Willis for the deaths and complained that police have not filed charges.

According to WDAF, police have received the toxicology report on the three men and have spoken with the family members about it.

“There have been no additional details of this case revealed to any media, nor are there any plans to at this time. The case remains an ongoing death investigation,” a Kansas City police spokesperson said Thursday.

But entertainment website TMZ says that “sources with direct knowledge” have told them that the toxicology tests found traces of cocaine and fentanyl in the men’s systems and that police detected those drugs early on in the investigation. Other drugs may be included when the full toxicology report is released.

Tony Kagay, an attorney hired by McGeeney’s mother, Nancy Bossert, also spoke with TMZ and “acknowledged that drugs may have played a part in the 3 men’s deaths.”

Meanwhile, Willis moved out of the house in the wake of the deaths and checked into rehab. A source close to his family said that the men’s deaths were an “enormous, heartbreaking wake-up call” and he had decided to deal with his addictions.

At least one of the dead men’s families denied that he ever did any drugs, and some of the family members have said they believe the men were poisoned and that Willis had something to do with it. Police have said they have seen no evidence of foul play and are awaiting both the autopsy results and the toxicology results before determining how they will move forward.

While police now acknowledge receiving the toxicology reports, the medical examiner’s office has said that the autopsy results are likely still several weeks away.

According to WDAF, five friends were initially at Willis’s house for the January 7 game, but one of them left before midnight that night, leaving the other four watching television. McGeeney, Johnson, and Harrington were found dead on January 9, when one of their fiancees broke into the house and found a body. She called police, who arrived and found the other bodies.

Willis was questioned at the time.

WDAF also said that the Platte County prosecutor met with representatives of the dead men’s families on Wednesday.
