In a tragic turn of events, an investigation has been launched in California after the grim discovery of four bodies inside a home on Tuesday, suspected to be a murder-suicide case involving two adults and two children.
The discovery was made in a residence in Rancho Cordova, where the lifeless bodies of a woman, a man, a young boy, and a girl were found, all bearing gunshot wounds. According to KCRA, authorities received two critical calls that prompted their response: the first reporting the sound of gunshots, and the second from an individual claiming responsibility for the shooting and alleging the presence of booby traps.
Sgt. Edward Igoe, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, revealed that before officers entered the house, a drone had captured images of an unresponsive man. Upon entry, deputies found the other three victims. Igoe remarked on the uncertainty surrounding whether the man found deceased was the same person who made the alarming second call, as no traps were discovered on the premises.
The identities of the deceased have yet to be officially confirmed by officials. However, the Sacramento Bee reported that the home’s registered owners are David and Lindsey Vallerga, aged 58 and 49 respectively. The couple reportedly had two children, a son aged 13, and an 11-year-old daughter.
Law enforcement officials are currently treating the case as a murder-suicide, implicating the deceased man as the perpetrator. Notably, they highlighted that there were no records of previous domestic violence reports from the household prior to this devastating incident.
